More than 900,000 public employees and pensioners in the Kurdistan Region have received bank cards through the My Account project, which has warned that unregistered salary recipients could face payment suspension.
The project said the final deadline for registration is August 31, 2026.
In a statement, My Account urged all remaining beneficiaries to complete registration and collect their bank cards. It said this would help prevent delays or interruptions in salary payments.
The project linked the registration requirement to notifications from Baghdad concerning the suspension of cash salary payments.
According to My Account, anyone who wants to avoid having their salary stopped must register before the deadline set by the Ministry of Finance.
Participating banks have also expanded access to cash withdrawal services. They have installed nearly 700 ATMs across the Kurdistan Region as part of the project.
Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani launched the My Account initiative in 2023.
The government introduced the program as part of the ninth cabinet’s efforts to modernize banking services and expand financial inclusion across the Region.
The system aims to move public employees away from traditional cash salary distribution and toward direct bank payments.
Officials say the project can make salary distribution faster, more transparent and easier to access through banking services.
The latest announcement places pressure on employees who have not yet completed the registration process.
Those workers now have until the end of August to submit their information and receive their cards.
My Account says completing registration is necessary to protect salary access as authorities continue shifting toward electronic payments.
The project is encouraging all remaining beneficiaries to act before the deadline and avoid possible disruptions.
After August 31, unregistered salary recipients could see their payments suspended until they complete the required banking procedures without any further unnecessary delay.
