Iraq oil exports to US rise in May, showing strong growth compared to the previous month. The US Department of Energy released new figures on Monday, June 16, 2025. Specifically, the data showed that Iraq shipped 5.548 million barrels of crude oil to the US in May. In contrast, April’s shipments stood at 4.59 million barrels. Overall, the figures highlight a steady upward trend in Iraqi oil flows to the American market.

According to the report, Iraq maintained a consistent export rhythm throughout May. During the first week, Iraq exported 152,000 barrels of crude oil daily. However, in the second week, the daily average fell slightly to 85,000 barrels. Then, by the third week, exports climbed to 235,000 barrels per day. Finally, in the fourth week, Iraq shipped an average of 214,000 barrels daily.

Iraq oil exports to US rise in May, securing Iraq’s strong position among top suppliers. Moreover, the latest rankings place Iraq sixth among oil-exporting countries to the US. Canada continues to dominate the list as the number one exporter. Meanwhile, Mexico follows in second place, with Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Colombia, and then Iraq completing the top six. Clearly, these rankings demonstrate Iraq’s growing importance in global energy markets.

In the Arab world, Iraq holds an impressive position as well. It now ranks as the second-largest Arab oil exporter to the US. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia remains first with 11.806 million barrels shipped in May. Iraq’s consistent export volumes keep it ahead of other Arab producers. Additionally, Libya, with 1.677 million barrels, holds the third spot among Arab countries. Iraq oil exports to US rise in May, affirming its role as a key energy partner.

Clearly, Iraq continues to strengthen its energy trade ties with the US. Indeed, the recent data shows a healthy increase in export levels month after month.
