The Erbil Green Belt is a major initiative by Erbil Province. This strategic project will support sustainable urban growth, environmental balance, and city planning goals.

The belt will form a full circle around the capital. It begins just beyond the 150-Meter Street and stretches outward in a two-kilometer-wide ring. This ring will serve as a green boundary to contain the city and reduce disorderly expansion.

More than 10 artificial lakes will be created inside the green zone. These lakes will help regulate temperature, manage rainfall runoff, and improve the city’s appearance. They will also provide open areas for future public use.

Erbil’s rapid development brings both opportunities and challenges. For that reason, the Erbil Green Belt will act as a long-term solution to guide the city’s expansion. It will reduce pollution, protect surrounding areas, and help manage city infrastructure more efficiently.

In addition, the green belt will offer a calm space away from busy streets. It will provide residents with cleaner air, scenic views, and new recreational areas. Planners aim to use this project as a model for other cities in the region.

Erbil Province continues to lead on urban innovation. With this project, local officials are taking clear steps toward a healthier and more organized city. They believe that smart planning can solve future problems before they arise.

The Erbil Green Belt shows how vision and action can work together. It reflects a strong commitment to quality of life, environmental care, and sustainable growth.
