A technical team from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Finance remains in Baghdad as federal officials continue reviewing the July salary list. The process is expected to finish on Monday.
The KRG submitted the July payroll list for public employees and pensioners to Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. It also delivered the June trial balance report to the ministry’s accounting department.
A source at the KRG Ministry of Finance said that the technical team had not yet returned from Baghdad. The team travelled to the capital to hand over the documents and follow the review process.
According to the source, federal officials have completed about 80% of the examination without identifying any major deficiencies. The remaining checks are expected to conclude by the end of Monday.
The review focuses on confirming employee records, payroll data and financial details included in the submitted documents. Completing this stage will allow both governments to move to the final administrative and financial procedures.
After officials finish the review, Baghdad must complete the remaining steps before transferring the salary funding. The source said the federal government will most likely deposit the funds between August 8 and August 10.
Baghdad would transfer the money to the bank account of the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Finance and Economy. The regional government could then begin preparing the distribution of July salaries.
Public employees and pensioners across the Kurdistan Region continue to follow the process closely. The timing of payments depends on the completion of the audit, federal approval and the transfer of funds.
Officials have not yet announced a final salary distribution date. However, the expected completion of the review marks progress toward securing the July payroll and reducing further delays for salary recipients across the Kurdistan Region this month.
