Five airlines have suspended flights to airports in the Kurdistan Region as drone attacks continue. Other scheduled flights remain operational and have departed or arrived on time.

Salar Marzani, director of Beverly Company, mentioned that Qatar Airways, AJet, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and Eurowings had paused services to Erbil International Airport and Sulaymaniyah’s Jalal Talabani International Airport.

Marzani said Qatar Airways had suspended flights to Erbil until the beginning of next month. However, its services to Sulaymaniyah continue normally.

German airline Eurowings has halted flights until August 3. Pegasus plans to resume operations on Monday night. Turkish Airlines and AJet have suspended their services until August 1.

According to the flight schedule at Jalal Talabani International Airport, Royal Jordanian cancelled two flights on Saturday and Sunday. However, the airline’s services to Erbil remain normal.

Ahmed Hoshyar, director of Erbil International Airport, said all other airlines continue to operate according to their published schedules. He added that the airport remains open and continues to handle regular passenger traffic.

The temporary measures mainly affect international connections, but domestic and regional services by other carriers continue without major disruption at both airports for now.

The suspensions come amid repeated drone attacks on the Kurdistan Region. The attacks have occurred almost every night since the United States resumed military strikes against Iran.

Coalition air defence systems have intercepted most of the drones before they reached their targets. Despite the interceptions, the security situation has caused concern among airlines and passengers.

Airport officials advised travellers to check directly with their airlines before travelling. Flight schedules may change quickly if security conditions worsen.

Authorities have not announced any general closure of Erbil or Sulaymaniyah airports. Both airports continue to operate, while the affected airlines review security developments and decide when to fully restore their services.
