The Kurdistan Regional Government says total investment across the Kurdistan Region has surpassed $25 billion, reflecting a broad strategy to diversify the economy and strengthen private-sector growth.
According to the KRG’s Department of Media and Information, authorities have implemented 856 projects worth a combined $25.298 billion. The investments cover housing, tourism, industry, trade, agriculture, education, healthcare, sports, public services, arts and banking.
Housing received the largest share. The sector attracted more than $8.5 billion through 102 projects. These developments expanded residential capacity and supported urban growth across the Region.
Tourism ranked second, with 118 projects valued at nearly $7.9 billion. The government says these projects aim to improve tourism infrastructure, attract more visitors and increase the sector’s contribution to economic activity.
Industry also received major support. Investors directed more than $4.95 billion toward 205 factories and manufacturing projects. Officials expect this investment to increase local production, create jobs and reduce dependence on imported goods.
Trade recorded the highest number of projects. The sector received 246 investments worth almost $1.9 billion, reflecting continued efforts to expand commercial activity and business opportunities.
Agriculture attracted more than $638 million across 30 projects. The funding supports food security, local production and rural development.
The government also reported 73 education and training projects worth over $551 million. Healthcare received about $452 million through 47 projects.
Sports projects attracted more than $150 million, while public services received over $105 million. Three arts projects accounted for more than $76 million, and three banking projects received over $22 million.
The KRG says the investment portfolio shows its commitment to balanced growth. Officials believe diversified investment can create jobs, improve services, attract domestic and international investors and build a stronger, more resilient economy.
The milestone also highlights efforts to modernize infrastructure and support sustainable development throughout the Kurdistan Region.
