The Kurdistan Regional Government will distribute March salaries for contract teachers by the end of this week. The payment covers teachers in the Ministry of Education and staff in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The salary distribution for public employees started on Sunday. Authorities began with the March payments for pensioners and regular government workers. After that stage, they will move to contract employees.
A source from the Kurdistan Region Ministry of Finance and Economy mentioned that payments for contract staff will arrive between Wednesday and Thursday. This group includes teachers and other contracted workers across government institutions.
Contract teachers make up a large part of the education workforce. Official data shows 37,933 contract teachers work under the Ministry of Education. Around 4,100 lecturers and staff also work in universities and institutes under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Other contract employees in different government departments also receive monthly salaries from local revenues. Authorities process their payments after they complete salaries for permanent staff each month.
The government follows a set salary schedule. It pays permanent employees first, then contract workers and other categories. Officials say this system helps organize the monthly payment process.
Authorities also say they continue to improve payment timing and procedures. They acknowledge financial and administrative challenges, but they stress that all eligible employees will receive salaries on schedule.
Contract teachers continue to monitor the process closely. Many families depend on these payments. Timely salary distribution remains a key concern across the education sector in the Kurdistan Region.
