The Ministry of Trade of the Kurdistan Region confirmed that it is distributing the first portion of 2026’s monthly food aid. Officials said that if the schedule stays on track, they will deliver the second portion before the upcoming festival.

The Iraqi Ministry of Trade told the Kurdistan Regional Ministry of Trade to transfer 118 billion Iraqi dinars, allocated for monthly food distributions, to Baghdad. If the transfer does not happen, it could delay food delivery. The Kurdistan Ministry of Trade is taking all necessary steps to prevent any delay.

Nawzad Sheikh Kamil, Director General of Trade at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said, “We assure citizens that the monthly food distribution will continue without problems. After finishing the first portion, we will immediately start distributing the second portion.”

Currently, 5,385,820 people in the Kurdistan Region receive food assistance. Every month, workers distribute six types of food items to recipients. Each person pays between 1,250 and 1,500 Iraqi dinars for their monthly portion.

Therefore, the Ministry is working to ensure smooth and timely distribution. Officials said this effort supports families across the Kurdistan Region and provides essential food supplies consistently.

The Ministry encourages citizens to follow announcements and updates about food distribution schedules. Authorities stressed that coordinating with Baghdad is essential to secure funding and keep aid uninterrupted.

If officials maintain proper planning and execution, residents can expect the second portion of 2026’s food aid to arrive on time. Families will benefit from reliable support ahead of major festivals and celebrations.
