Prime Minister Masrour Barzani launched the foundation for the Kurdistan Innovation Institute’s Science Park. The project marks a major step toward turning Kurdistan into a hub for technology, research, and entrepreneurship. By investing in human capital, the KRG hopes to strengthen the economy through innovation and knowledge-based growth.

Therefore, the Kurdistan Innovation Institute’s Science Park sits on a 200,000-square-meter site in Erbil. It will feature modern laboratories, offices, co-working spaces, and meeting rooms. The facility also includes housing and recreation areas for researchers and visiting experts. This environment encourages collaboration among academics, entrepreneurs, and private companies.

Additionally, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted that the project fulfills the vision introduced with the Kurdistan Innovation Institute. He said the park will help innovators turn ideas into real projects. He emphasized that innovation and knowledge-based growth will drive Kurdistan forward. Entrepreneurs and researchers will develop solutions in renewable energy, information technology, biotechnology, and digital services. This focus will link research directly to industry needs.

Furthermore, designed with sustainability in mind, the park uses renewable energy, solar collection, and rainwater harvesting. Swedish firm Wingardh Arkitektkontor developed the design inspired by Kurdistan’s mountains. Additionally, the KRG aims to make the park a model of international collaboration. Local talent will meet global expertise, creating partnerships with universities, technology firms, and international investors.

Therefore, the Science Park aligns with Kurdistan’s economic diversification plan. The government has already invested in major infrastructure and energy projects. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to building a self-reliant, future-oriented economy. By promoting innovation and knowledge-based growth, the KRG expects to strengthen private sector activity and create new employment opportunities.

Moreover, Kurdistan Innovation Institute will manage the Science Park. It will offer mentorship, training, and incubation for startups. The institute will connect research with entrepreneurship to generate practical solutions for economic challenges. At the same time, the project supports broader reform priorities, including education, digital transformation, and innovation.

Therefore, through these efforts, the KRG envisions a prosperous, knowledge-driven future. Innovation and knowledge-based growth remain central to Kurdistan’s strategy. The Science Park is a symbol of ambition, collaboration, and sustainable development.
