Shax Garments, a small independent project based in Kurdistan, is gaining recognition for its distinctive use of illustrations and graphics on items like denim bags and more. The project uses visual storytelling to turn everyday objects into something meaningful and culturally resonant.

Primarily active through Instagram, Shax Garments creates limited collections that feature printed artwork inspired by Kurdish literature, daily life, and local stories. Each piece reflects familiar themes that connect with a wide audience across the region.

A standout series is the Mam Zorab Collection, based on a well-known story from the first-grade curriculum in Kurdistan. The collection uses bold, colorful visuals to bring the tale to life in a fresh and modern way, sparking nostalgia for childhood among many. Other releases include a collection featuring Mickey Mouse, mixing global pop culture with Shax’s unique visual style.

Though operating on a small scale, Shax Garments is steadily building a following through its thoughtful use of visuals and cultural themes. By adding storytelling elements to bags and other items, the project offers something personal and relatable in the growing Kurdish creative scene.
