Two Solutions to Resolve Pensioners’ Card Issues

A problem affecting pensioners is now being resolved. The “My Account” team will deliver pension cards to government banks closer to retirees’ homes. The team confirmed two main ways to fix the issue.

Many pensioners previously faced difficulties when collecting their bank cards. Some traveled long distances or even went to other cities. This happened despite the presence of government banks in every major city. The situation created unnecessary hardship, especially for elderly citizens who depend on pensions for daily life.

The issue started because some employees worked in cities different from their hometowns. After retirement, they returned to live in their original place. However, the system still linked their records to their last workplace. For example, a person from Sulaymaniyah may have worked in Chamchamal as a teacher or government employee.

The “My Account” form recorded Chamchamal as their official reference. After retirement, they returned to Sulaymaniyah. As a result, the bank sent their card to Chamchamal instead of their current address.

To solve this, the My Account team introduced two options:

First, pensioners can visit the nearest government bank in their current city. They can request to transfer their card there. The bank processes the request within a few days. Then the bank calls the pensioner to collect the card.

Second, pensioners can wait for an automatic update. The My Account team now redirects cards based on current residence. They send each card to the nearest government bank. When the card arrives, the pensioner receives a notification letter. Then they go to the bank and collect it easily.

These measures aim to reduce travel and simplify access for retirees. They also ensure pensioners receive their cards without unnecessary delays or distance challenges.
