Turkish Airlines, AJet, and Pegasus have temporarily canceled several flights to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

The cancellations follow growing conflict and tensions across the Middle East. As a result, several airlines have changed their flight schedules in the region.

Starting Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Erbil and Sulaimani airports reported cancellations involving Turkish carriers. Some passengers also expressed concern because they said airlines had not informed them early enough.

According to the Erbil International Airport flight schedule, Turkish Airlines, AJet, and Pegasus canceled their scheduled flights on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sulaimani International Airport reported a canceled AJet flight. The airline had scheduled the flight for 9:00 a.m., but AJet canceled the service.

Airport officials said AJet requested the cancellation. However, the Pegasus flight scheduled for 2:00 a.m. remains on the airport’s timetable for now. Passengers should therefore check their flight status directly with their airline before traveling to the airport.

Fly Erbil said it has not canceled any of its scheduled flights. Lawand Mamundi, the company’s director, said Fly Erbil planned four flights on Wednesday. Three flights will travel to Germany, while another will fly to Türkiye.

He said the airline continues to monitor the regional situation. However, Fly Erbil plans to operate its flights as scheduled. The company also reassured passengers that it currently has no plans to cancel its services. The cancellations came shortly after the US Embassy in Israel issued a security alert on Tuesday night, September 1.

The US warning said renewed instability could affect air travel across the Middle East. It also warned that airlines could delay or cancel flights because of changing security conditions.

Therefore, travelers should monitor airline announcements and airport schedules before leaving for their flights.

So far, Turkish airlines have not announced a specific date for restoring the canceled services. However, airlines could review their decisions daily based on security assessments. The situation remains fluid, and further schedule changes could occur if regional tensions increase.
