The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced that public employees and pensioners must collect their MyAccount bank cards by August 31, 2026. After that date, cash salary payments will end. All salaries will be paid through bank accounts. The move is part of the government’s plan to modernize banking services and expand digital financial services across the Kurdistan Region.
According to the MyAccount program, employees and retirees who have not collected their bank cards should visit their assigned bank before the deadline. Cash salary payments will stop after August 31. Instead, banks will transfer salaries directly into beneficiaries’ accounts.
The government urged beneficiaries to complete the process quickly. Officials said collecting the bank card is necessary to receive monthly salaries without interruption.
The MyAccount program also explained how beneficiaries will know when their cards are ready. Employees and pensioners receive notifications through SMS, Viber, or WhatsApp. The messages tell them which bank to visit and when to collect their cards.
Authorities advised everyone who receives a notification to visit the assigned bank on time. This will help prevent delays when electronic salary payments begin.
Official figures show strong participation across the Kurdistan Region. So far, 862,168 public employees and pensioners have registered with MyAccount and collected their bank cards. That equals 96% of all eligible salary recipients.
Registration rates by province are:
- Erbil: 99% (379,204 beneficiaries)
- Duhok: 99% (188,164 beneficiaries)
- Halabja: 93% (15,886 beneficiaries)
- Sulaymaniyah: 92% (278,913 beneficiaries)
The KRG launched the MyAccount program in 2023 under Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. The project aims to modernize banking services. It also seeks to improve financial transparency, reduce cash transactions, and strengthen the region’s financial system.
Officials believe electronic salary payments will increase efficiency and improve security. They also expect easier access to banking services for citizens. As the August deadline approaches, the government continues to encourage all remaining beneficiaries to collect their bank cards and complete the registration process.
