The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Education has launched a new guide for artificial intelligence systems. The guide helps AI chatbots follow standard Kurdish spelling rules.

The initiative aims to improve Kurdish content created by AI tools. Moreover, these tools include ChatGPT and Gemini. Officials said many platforms currently use different Kurdish spelling styles.

The Ministry’s General Directorate of Curriculum Programs created the new method. Therefore, it allows users to teach AI systems the official Kurdish orthography. The rules come from the Ministry of Education and the Kurdish Academy.

Officials said AI systems learned Kurdish from many online sources. Because of this, they may produce text with different spelling styles. The new guide helps reduce these differences.

The ministry introduced a three-step process for users. First, users must download a PDF called “Summary of the Ministry of Education’s Orthography.” The file contains approved Kurdish spelling rules.

Second, users should upload the PDF to an AI chatbot. Therefore, they must ask the chatbot to read and understand the document. The chatbot should then summarize the rules.

Third, users should tell the AI system to follow these rules in future tasks. Furthermore, these tasks include writing, editing, formatting, and translation.

The ministry explained that AI systems may need repeated instructions. This is because they were trained on different Kurdish writing styles. Officials believe regular use will improve their accuracy over time.

The Orthography and Standardization Committee developed the guide. Additionally, the Kurdish Academy also supports the initiative.

Officials said the project protects the unity of the Kurdish language. They added that AI is becoming more common in education, communication, and translation.

The ministry believes standard Kurdish spelling will improve digital content quality. It will also help students, teachers, researchers, and other users.

The initiative represents a new step in preserving Kurdish language standards in the digital age. It connects language protection with modern artificial intelligence technology.
