In 2024, Turkey’s vegetable export sector reached a historic milestone, totaling $2.47 billion—an 80% increase compared to a decade ago, according to the latest data from the Turkish Statistical Institute.

The data indicates that Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, emerged as the leading importer of Turkish vegetables, with total imports amounting to $433 million. This figure places Iraq ahead of Algeria and Germany, which imported $269 million and $183 million respectively.

This trend highlights the growing agricultural trade between Turkey and its regional partners, particularly Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, which continue to play a vital role in Turkey’s export economy. The record-breaking performance reflects not only increased demand but also Turkey’s continued efforts to expand its agricultural market reach and meet international standards.
