Renovation of Erbil-Sulaimani road has officially started. Authorities confirmed that the work began on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The project focuses on repairing damaged sections near Samaquli Dam. This road is vital because it links Raperin and Erbil.

Emad Mohammed, the director of road maintenance and protection in Erbil, announced the details. He explained that the renovation will cover three key sections. Workers will repair damaged parts and then repave them. He assured that the team will accelerate progress to finish the work soon.

The renovation of Erbil-Sulaimani road is critical for daily travel. Thousands of vehicles pass through this route every day. The director stressed that citizens deserve a safe and durable road. He noted that poor road conditions caused several accidents in recent years. With the new work, the risk of accidents will decrease significantly.

Moreover, the project has major economic importance. The Erbil-Sulaimani road serves as one of the busiest trade routes in the Kurdistan Region. Trucks and commercial vehicles use it to transport goods between the two major cities. Better road conditions will speed up trade activities and reduce transport costs.

In addition, smoother roads will encourage more business cooperation between Erbil and Sulaimani. Traders and companies will benefit from faster delivery times. Local farmers and producers will also find it easier to bring products to markets.

The renovation of Erbil-Sulaimani road also strengthens regional connectivity. Reliable infrastructure supports both economic growth and public safety. Officials emphasized that the rehabilitation will be done with high quality. Once complete, the road will return to service for citizens in a stronger condition.

In conclusion, the Erbil-Sulaimani road renovation demonstrates a commitment to safety and development. By repairing damaged parts and repaving them, the project improves both travel and trade. Authorities promised to complete the work quickly and deliver lasting benefits to the region.
