The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a new agreement with BrightCastle Motors, the authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in Iraq.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to strengthen private-sector cooperation and support investment across the Kurdistan Region.
Officials signed the agreement in Erbil. Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw attended the ceremony alongside senior business and government representatives.
The attendees included Erbil Chamber President Gailan Haji Saeed, BrightCastle Motors Executive Director Bernhard Dolinek, and Chamber Vice President Kamaran Salah Saeed Bajgr.
Representatives of the Ministry of Trade, importers, exporters, employers, and Chamber board members also attended the event.
Haji Saeed said stronger Chamber relations with private companies could help revitalize Erbil’s economy. He added that the new partnership followed several discussions between the two sides.
According to Haji Saeed, the agreement creates new opportunities for Chamber members. They can now explore joint commercial activities with BrightCastle Motors.
Dolinek also welcomed the agreement. He praised the Erbil Chamber for supporting private businesses and promoting trade across the region.
Bajgr said the MoU took effect immediately after both sides signed it. He described the agreement as a major opportunity for Chamber members and smaller businesses.
He said small companies could benefit from joint projects, particularly in the automotive spare-parts sector. The partnership could therefore create new opportunities for local suppliers.
Bajgr also highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability. He said these factors continue to encourage major international companies to invest in Erbil.
Mercedes-Benz has operated a branch in Erbil for nearly two decades. Bajgr expects the new cooperation to support the region’s industrial sector.
The partnership could also create jobs for university and institute graduates. These opportunities could cover automotive services and other related industrial fields.
Under the MoU, both sides will develop joint programs, projects, and commercial activities. BrightCastle Motors will also provide special offers to Erbil Chamber members.
The two sides will organize seminars and workshops as well. They will exchange expertise and business information to strengthen cooperation.
The agreement also supports efforts to improve the Kurdistan Region’s business and investment environment.
Overall, the partnership reflects growing cooperation between business institutions and international brands. It also supports the Kurdistan Region’s efforts to expand private-sector activity and attract more investment.
