The lighting project in Duhok has transformed life for families across the province. It reached the city center four months early, giving more than 450,000 citizens access to 24-hour electricity. This achievement represents one of the most significant infrastructure steps in recent years.

The government launched the project in Sarhaldan and Barushke neighborhoods. Residents quickly noticed improvements. Shukri Haji, a resident of Sarhaldan, said his neighborhood has enjoyed uninterrupted electricity for three months. He explained that the new system ended years of unreliable power.

Another citizen, Maslikhan Avdel, said families can now use all their household appliances. Yet he stressed that people avoid wasting power. Many households now manage their consumption carefully, which helps the project succeed.

Local businesses also benefit. Refrigerator shop owner Zaki Saeed said reliable power improved his daily operations. He also pointed out that the air feels cleaner because generators no longer run. He thanked the authorities for finishing the work ahead of schedule.

The project shut down around 450 private generators across Duhok. This step reduced fuel use, cut noise, and saved families money. The lighting project in Duhok now provides both social and environmental benefits.

Officials also praised the outcome. Electricity leaders in the province confirmed the project was scheduled for completion at the end of the year. However, the team managed to finish several months early.

The rollout started on March 27, 2013, in Sarhaldan and Barushke. Within five months, the entire province had electricity around the clock. Today, the lighting project in Duhok supplies reliable power to over 450,000 people.

This success goes beyond electricity. It brings economic growth, supports a cleaner environment, and creates confidence in future development. Citizens now expect better living conditions, while investors see new opportunities in the province.
