The Director of Erbil’s Sewerage System, Serdasht Sersam has announced a transformative plan to integrate the city’s entire sewerage infrastructure with a dedicated water treatment and production facility. This initiative aims to significantly improve the purification process of wastewater across Erbil.

According to the director, the current sewerage system is being expanded and developed beyond its original capacity, with the upcoming master plan focusing on a centralized water treatment solution. Unlike previous designs, which involved the construction of multiple units, the new strategy emphasizes the establishment of a singular, specialized unit for both water purification and environmental protection.

The project will prioritize environmental sustainability through advanced soil decontamination techniques and atmospheric protection measures. The administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that all sewage in Erbil is efficiently processed and treated, contributing to a cleaner and healthier urban environment.
