China strengthened its engagement in the Kurdistan Region as a new branch of the Great Wall of China Association began work in Erbil. The launch created a fresh platform that supports China–Kurdistan cooperation, and many regional figures joined the event to show their interest in stronger ties. Chinese officials explained that the association brings together well-known individuals from different sectors in the Kurdistan Region.
