The Chinese Consulate in Erbil has introduced an online system for visa applications. The new process allows Kurdistan Region residents to submit their applications through China’s COVA visa system.
The consulate said the system aims to make visa applications easier and more efficient. Additionally, applicants must upload all required documents electronically. They can also follow the progress of their applications online.
Applicants must first create an account using an email address. Then, they should select the city where they will submit their application.
Next, applicants choose the appropriate visa category. China offers more than 10 visa types for different travel purposes. Applicants must then explain the purpose of their visit.
After that, they need to scan and upload the required documents. They must also provide a photograph and other requested information.
The online application form contains nine sections. Applicants should complete all sections carefully before submitting the form. If they cannot finish the application at once, they can save their progress and return later.
The new system is expected to simplify the process for people in the Kurdistan Region. Therefore, thousands of residents travel to China every year for tourism, business, education and other purposes.
China offers several visa categories:
- L Visa — Tourism

In conclusion, the consulate has also provided detailed guidance for applicants through its official online visa application system.
