President Nechirvan Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to expand trade with the United States. He said the Region welcomes more American investment in all sectors. President Nechirvan Barzani made the statement during a meeting with a delegation from the US–Kurdistan Business Council (USKBC). He emphasized that the Kurdistan Region is prepared to support US companies entering local markets.

During the meeting, the USKBC delegation outlined the goals of their visit. They discussed ways to deepen US–Kurdistan economic ties. They also reviewed opportunities to expand market access and strengthen commercial partnerships. The delegation highlighted the importance of long-term cooperation between American investors and the Kurdistan Region.

Moreover, President Nechirvan Barzani said the Kurdistan Region considers US companies key partners in its development. He noted that the KRG will offer full support to American firms. He added that the government will help US investors expand their presence and launch new projects in the Region.

Therefore, the discussion also touched on Iraq’s recent parliamentary elections. These results continue to shape political dynamics and future federal–regional cooperation.

This meeting follows stronger Business Council engagement between the Kurdistan Region and the United States. In May 2025, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani made a strategic visit to Washington. He led a high-level KRG delegation from May 17 to May 23. The visit aimed to deepen political ties and secure new economic partnerships.

Additionally, a major result of that visit was the signing of two landmark energy agreements. These deals were signed with HKN Energy and Western Zagros on May 19. Prime Minister Barzani supervised the signing ceremony. The agreements will generate electricity, create new jobs, and support economic stability.

During his trip, Prime Minister Barzani met many members of Congress and the Senate. He thanked them for their strong support for the Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga.

He also met several members of the Trump Administration. US officials praised the KRG’s reforms and its role as a reliable partner.

Prime Minister Barzani later joined an energy conference in Washington. Discussions covered the Region’s energy future and new development plans.

Against this backdrop, President Nechirvan Barzani’s meeting with the USKBC delegation carries strong significance. It shows continued American interest in the Kurdistan Region’s economy. It also aligns with progress made during the Prime Minister’s Washington visit.

The Kurdistan Region’s leadership continues to highlight the importance of strong ties with the United States. President Nechirvan Barzani’s support for more US investment reflects a unified strategy. It aims to turn diplomatic progress into real economic opportunities.
