The Kurdistan Regional Government has expanded the distribution of subsidized gasoline across the Kurdistan Region.
Today, authorities are supplying 750-dinar gasoline at 97 fuel stations. They have allocated 3.492 million liters for the distribution process.
Officials will distribute the subsidized gasoline during morning and evening shifts. The expanded supply aims to meet rising demand from drivers across the region.
Erbil and Soran have 45 stations distributing the subsidized gasoline. Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, Garmian, and Raparin have another 30 stations. Duhok and Zakho have 22 stations.
Authorities have sent one 36,000-liter tanker to each participating station.
Under the distribution system, each vehicle can receive 40 liters of gasoline. However, authorities use different systems across the region.
In Erbil, drivers receive gasoline through electronic fuel cards. In Duhok and Zakho, taxi drivers can receive fuel once every two days. Private vehicle owners can receive fuel once every four days.
Soran uses an application to manage distribution. Each vehicle can receive gasoline once every 48 hours.
In Garmian, vehicles can receive gasoline once every four days. In Raparin, authorities distribute fuel according to the last digit of vehicle license plates.
The increase in subsidized normal gasoline has also affected the commercial fuel market. As subsidized supplies increase, demand for commercial gasoline has declined.
Meanwhile, commercial gasoline prices remain different by grade. According to Ava Media’s latest market follow-up, normal gasoline currently sells for 1,600 dinars per liter.
Improved gasoline sells for around 1,900 dinars per liter. Super gasoline costs between 2,100 and 2,200 dinars per liter.
The expanded subsidized supply could ease pressure on drivers. It may also reduce demand for higher-priced commercial gasoline across the Kurdistan Region.
