The Kurdistan Regional Government’s MyAccount project has issued a final warning to thousands of salary recipients. They have 5 days left to complete registration or collect their MyAccount cards.
According to the project team, salary recipients who fail to take action by August 31 could lose access to their salaries. The deadline follows a requirement from the federal government in Baghdad.
Starting September 1, the government will end cash salary payments. Therefore, employees and other salary recipients must register with MyAccount and collect their bank cards to continue receiving their payments.
The MyAccount team said that around 130,000 people have yet to collect their cards. The project has set August 31 as the final deadline for card collection.
Of those recipients, around 80,000 cards have already reached public-sector banks. These cards remain available for collection. Meanwhile, banks will receive another 50,000 cards next week.
A separate group has not yet registered with the MyAccount system. They represent around 2% to 3% of all salary recipients. The project has also given this group until August 31 to complete registration.
After the deadline, authorities will suspend salaries for people who fail to follow the instructions.
The MyAccount team said around 97% of salary recipients have already registered with the system. Officials described the latest announcement as the project’s final warning before the deadline.
Recipients who miss the August 31 deadline will not receive their salaries until they complete the required procedures and collect their cards.
The team also warned that additional administrative measures could follow after the deadline. Therefore, officials urged people who have not yet collected their cards to visit the designated banks as soon as possible.
The MyAccount system forms part of the KRG’s wider effort to move salary payments from cash to electronic banking. The new system aims to make salary distribution more organized and reduce reliance on cash payments.
With only a few days remaining, authorities are urging the remaining recipients to complete the process before the deadline.
