Erbil is set to host the 16th International Construction, Electricity and Energy Expo. The event will bring together 450 companies from 20 countries.

The annual exhibition will take place despite ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran. Organizers say the event will highlight investment and business opportunities in the Kurdistan Region.

This year, 450 companies will participate in the expo. Among them, 75 are local companies. Chinese companies make up the largest group of international participants. Turkish companies rank second.

Participating companies hope to use the exhibition to expand their markets. They also expect to build partnerships and sign new contracts with international businesses.

Ibrahim Saadi, a design manager at one of the participating companies, said this will be the company’s fourth participation.

“We have completed our preparations,” Saadi said. He explained that the company will display products ranging from three tons to 32 tons.

The company also hopes to sign agreements with foreign businesses during the event.

Organizers say regional tensions created concerns among some international companies. However, they introduced several measures to encourage businesses to attend.

Basim Al-Masri, the exhibition organizer, said the organizers reduced costs and improved services for participating companies.

“We had to offer facilities in terms of prices and services to encourage companies to come,” Al-Masri said.

He added that the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Ministry of Interior also provided support.

According to Al-Masri, the authorities helped international visitors enter the Region more easily. They also wanted to send a clear message about the security situation.

He said the Kurdistan Region continues to host business events without major problems. Therefore, organizers expect strong participation from international companies.

The 16th International Construction, Electricity and Energy Expo will officially open on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

The opening ceremony will begin at 12:00 noon in Erbil. The exhibition will provide companies with an opportunity to present products, meet potential partners and explore new markets.

Moreover, organizers expect the event to strengthen trade links between local and international businesses. It could also support investment and contribute to the growth of the Kurdistan Region’s construction and energy sectors.
