Iraq exported 32.1 million barrels of crude oil and condensates during May and June 2026, including more than 1.5 million barrels from the Kurdistan Region, according to figures released by the State Organization for Marketing of Oil, known as SOMO.

SOMO published the export and revenue data. The company said total crude oil and condensate exports during the two-month period reached 32,114,677 barrels.

Basra accounted for 20,238,836 barrels of the total. Another 10,311,216 barrels came from Kirkuk and moved through the pipeline to Turkey’s Ceyhan port. That route passes through the Kurdistan Region.

SOMO also confirmed that 1,564,625 barrels of oil produced in the Kurdistan Region entered the export system during May and June.

Before the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States began on February 28, 2026, Iraq exported more than three million barrels of oil per day. Since then, tensions in the Gulf and risks around the Strait of Hormuz have reduced exports through southern routes.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy corridors. Any disruption can affect tanker traffic, shipping insurance and the speed of Iraqi crude deliveries to international markets.

According to SOMO, Iraq earned $2,335,537,399 from oil exports during May and June.

The figures show that northern export routes have become increasingly important during periods of regional instability. They also highlight the Kurdistan Region’s contribution to Iraq’s overall export volume.

Officials continue to monitor security conditions, pipeline operations and international shipping routes. Future export levels will depend on regional stability, tanker access and Baghdad’s ability to maintain production and transport flows through both northern and southern channels.

Stable exports will remain essential for protecting public revenue, financing government spending and limiting the economic impact of continuing geopolitical uncertainty across Iraq and the wider region.
