Dana Gas will gradually restore production at the Khor Mor gas field after receiving security assurances from authorities in the Kurdistan Regional Government and Iraq’s federal government.

Shakir Wajid Shakir, Dana Gas country manager for Iraq, said that the company plans to return output to full capacity by Tuesday. He said the field produces natural gas, condensates and other products.

The company said it carried out a review of security conditions before deciding to increase production in stages. It will proceed cautiously while monitoring developments around the field.

Dana Gas explained that officials in Erbil and Baghdad had provided reassuring guarantees. Those commitments gave the company confidence to begin restoring output.

The main goal is to maintain a stable gas supply to power plants. Khor Mor plays a major role in electricity generation across the Kurdistan Region and also supports energy needs in other parts of Iraq.

Security concerns had previously forced Dana Gas to reduce production at the field. The gradual recovery should improve fuel availability for power stations and help stabilize electricity supplies.

Khor Mor is one of the most important gas assets in Iraq. Any interruption can quickly affect electricity generation, especially during periods of high demand. Dana Gas therefore plans to raise output step by step rather than resume full production immediately.

Founded in December 2005, Dana Gas is the Middle East’s first and largest private natural gas company. The company is headquartered in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and trades on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange.

Dana Gas entered the Kurdistan Region in 2007. It later developed the Kurdistan Gas Project with Crescent Petroleum under an agreement with the KRG. The company says the latest decision reflects improved security coordination and its commitment to supporting reliable energy supplies across the Region and Iraq.
