A high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Region has traveled to Spain to participate in the Spain Economic Forum, where officials and business leaders are promoting investment opportunities and expanding economic cooperation with Spanish companies.

The forum is taking place in the Murcia region and brings together government officials, business organizations, chambers of commerce, and major investors from Spain. More than 40 investors and business representatives from the Kurdistan Region are participating in the event.

One of the forum’s main sessions focuses entirely on the Kurdistan Region. During this panel, senior Kurdish officials will present the region’s investment climate, legal framework, and economic opportunities to Spanish investors.

According to Kurdistan’s diplomatic representative in Spain, the delegation will hold meetings with leading Spanish companies and regional chambers of commerce. These discussions aim to strengthen trade relations, increase foreign direct investment, and encourage long-term business partnerships between Spain and the Kurdistan Region.

Furthermore, the President of the Kurdistan Board of Investment will serve as the keynote speaker during the Kurdistan panel. He will explain the region’s investment law, business incentives, and the facilities available to foreign investors. In addition, he will highlight the government’s efforts to simplify investment procedures and improve the business environment.

Officials believe the Kurdistan Region offers attractive opportunities because of its strategic location, improving infrastructure, and stable security environment. As a result, the government hopes to attract more international companies looking to expand into the Middle East.

Tourism will receive special attention during the forum. The Kurdistan delegation plans to encourage Spanish investors to participate in tourism projects, including hotels, resorts, and recreational developments. These investments support the Kurdistan Regional Government’s broader strategy to diversify the economy beyond the oil sector.

Moreover, participants will discuss opportunities in infrastructure, trade, manufacturing, and other growing industries. The delegation hopes these meetings will lead to new investment agreements and stronger economic cooperation between the two sides.

The visit reflects the Kurdistan Region’s continued efforts to promote itself as a competitive destination for foreign investment. By strengthening international partnerships, officials aim to create jobs, attract new capital, and support sustainable economic growth across the region.
