Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Turkey’s Ambassador to Iraq, Anıl Bora İnan, on Thursday to discuss economic cooperation, trade development, and the future of oil exports through the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
The meeting also included Turkey’s Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Erman Topçu. Both sides reviewed ways to strengthen relations and expand cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. Trade and investment opportunities featured prominently in the discussions.
Officials highlighted the strong ties between the two neighbors and stressed the importance of increasing commercial exchange. They agreed that deeper economic cooperation can create new opportunities for businesses and support long-term growth in both markets.
The talks also focused on Prime Minister Barzani’s recent visit to Turkey. During that visit, he held meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and several senior officials. Both sides described the visit as an important step toward enhancing strategic cooperation and expanding economic partnerships.
Energy cooperation remained a key topic during the meeting. Prime Minister Barzani and Ambassador İnan emphasized the importance of resuming and maintaining oil exports through the Ceyhan pipeline. They noted that stable oil exports can strengthen public revenues, support economic growth, and contribute to financial stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The two sides also discussed efforts to increase oil production and improve the energy sector. They agreed that stronger energy cooperation can help attract investment and support broader economic development plans.
In addition to economic issues, the meeting covered recent developments in Iraq. Both officials stressed the importance of supporting the federal government as it works to address political and economic challenges. They also highlighted the need for cooperation among all parties to promote stability and development.
