Erbil will host the first major Kurdish Book Fair with the participation of more than 100 publishing houses and cultural institutions. The event aims to promote Kurdish literature and support the publishing sector. Organizers expect it to become one of the largest cultural events of 2026.
The exhibition will start on June 4 and continue until June 10. Visitors can attend the event at the Erbil International Fairground inside Sami Abdulrahman Park. The fair will welcome publishers, writers, academics, and readers from across the Kurdistan Region and beyond.
Rebin Fattah, one of the organizers, said the fair marks an important step for Kurdish culture. He explained that organizers designed the event to focus entirely on Kurdish books. The Kurdistan Region has hosted international book fairs before. However, this exhibition places Kurdish-language publications at the center of the program.
More than 100 publishing houses, printing centers, and cultural organizations will take part in the event. They will display thousands of titles across different fields. Visitors will find literary works, historical studies, scientific books, social research, and intellectual publications.
The fair also seeks to unite different parts of the Kurdish publishing industry. Publishers and cultural institutions will present their latest releases. They will also meet readers and build new partnerships. Organizers believe this approach will strengthen cooperation across the sector.
