The Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Electricity announced that electricity has been restored to normal in Soran and Raperin after a technical fault disrupted supply. Officials confirmed that repair teams acted quickly and restored power to residents without major delays. The ministry also reassured the public that the situation is now fully under control.
The ministry stated that a fault in the transmission lines caused a temporary outage in both administrations. As a result, several areas experienced sudden power cuts that affected homes, businesses, and public services. In many neighborhoods, residents reported brief disruptions that interrupted daily routines and essential services.
Ardawan Ibrahim explained that the issue occurred on the Bazyan–Soran transmission line. He said the disruption caused a full outage that lasted about half an hour. However, technical teams responded immediately and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. Consequently, electricity was quickly restored to normal across Soran and nearby areas.
Ibrahim also noted that the Soran administration serves around 90,000 electricity subscribers. He added that authorities provide power across six districts and surrounding communities. Therefore, most residents now receive electricity 24 hours a day without interruption, which marks a significant improvement compared to previous years.
Meanwhile, the ministry stressed that its teams continue to monitor the electricity network closely. They are also carrying out regular inspections and maintenance work. These efforts aim to prevent similar technical failures in the future and ensure stable service. In addition, engineers are working to strengthen infrastructure and improve response times during emergencies.
Kamal Mohammed said during a press conference in Duhok that 85% of subscribers in the Kurdistan Region now receive 24-hour electricity. This progress reflects ongoing reforms in the energy sector and increased investment in power generation.
Overall, the quick repair work reduced disruption and reassured residents. Authorities say they will continue improving services to meet growing demand and maintain reliable electricity across the region.
