More than 415,000 people across the Kurdistan Region are currently benefiting from the ongoing lighting project, which aims to provide uninterrupted 24-hour electricity to every household. The Ministry of Electricity confirmed on Sunday, April 13, 2025, that the project is expanding steadily and is expected to reach all areas of Kurdistan by the end of the year.

So far, the initiative has led to the shutdown of around 600 private generators operating in 35 different neighborhoods. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to deliver stable electricity services throughout the region.

The project has already been implemented in 35 neighborhoods across major cities. In Erbil, areas such as Tayrawa, Mustawfi, Kurani Ankawa, Ankawa, Salahaddin, Minara, Zanyari, Ta’jil, Araban, Shadi, Bahari Nwê, Naznaz, Bakhtiari, Sarbesti, Kuran, Kurdistan, Majidawa, Rzgari, Bahar, Krekaran, Azadi, Rasti, Nishtiman, Raperin, Newroz, and Mardin have benefited.

In Sulaimani, neighborhoods including Ibrahim Pasha, Sabunkaran, Darogha, Haji Khan, Orzi Road, Salim Beg, and Khanaqa have been covered. In Duhok, Baroshki and Sarhaldan neighborhoods are already receiving 24-hour electricity.
