Salary distribution for public employees in the Kurdistan Region began today, Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Authorities started paying February salaries through a digital system known as “My Account.” The process covers all provinces of the region and focuses mainly on key sectors and retirees who receive their financial entitlements first.

The payment process began after the Iraqi Ministry of Finance transferred funding to the regional government. The total funding reached 936 billion Iraqi dinars. After receiving the money, the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Finance and Economy announced the official schedule for distributing salaries.

Therefore, this month shows a significant increase in the number of employees who receive their salaries digitally through ATMs. The salary distribution process will continue for three days across the region. Authorities say the new digital payment system aims to make salary distribution faster, safer, and more transparent.

Furthermore, several groups receive their salaries first today. These groups include civilian and military retirees, including members of the Peshmerga forces. Political prisoners and victims of chemical weapons attacks are also included in the first payment phase. Families of martyrs and employees from key ministries also receive payments today.

The main ministries involved include the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Higher Education. These sectors represent a large portion of the public workforce in the Kurdistan Region.

Official figures show that 722,100 employees now receive their salaries digitally through the “My Account” system. This number increased by 42,000 people compared with last month, showing rapid growth in digital payments across the region.

To support the system, authorities installed 572 ATMs in more than 200 locations. These machines allow employees and retirees to withdraw their salaries easily.

Although Wednesday and Thursday are official holidays, salary distribution will continue. Payments will reach 353,331 people in Erbil, 185,542 in Sulaymaniyah, 175,262 in Duhok, and 7,971 in Halabja.

Officials say the digital salary system represents an important step toward modern financial management in the Kurdistan Region.
