Korek Telecom is acting quickly to restore services after network issues disrupted communication across Iraq. Its technical teams are working on the lines and following instructions from Baghdad to fix the problems immediately.

At the end of 2023, Iraq’s communications authorities sanctioned Korek Telecom for repeated service interruptions and unpaid debts. The sanctions suspended telephone connections between Korek and other domestic networks and restricted internet services. These measures left millions of subscribers without reliable communication.

Sirwan Barzani, General Manager of Korek Telecom, said: “Our teams are working on the lines, and Baghdad instructed us to resolve the network issues as quickly as possible. Today, one of our teams is heading to Baghdad to fix the problems.”

Korek Telecom serves nearly 10 million subscribers across Iraq. Hundreds of thousands lost internet access, and telephone connections between Korek and other networks stopped temporarily. Citizens, businesses, and public services struggled to communicate during the outage.

The company promised to restore full service as soon as possible. Officials deployed additional teams and resources to solve the network problems efficiently. Korek Telecom is also coordinating with Baghdad authorities to prevent future interruptions.

With these actions, Korek Telecom aims to reconnect millions of subscribers. Internet usage and phone communications should return to normal soon. The company emphasized its commitment to ensuring continuous, reliable service for all users.
