The Ministry of Electricity has confirmed that official electricity rates have not increased this month. However, many subscribers have noticed higher electricity bills due to increased electricity usage caused by the recent cold wave across the Kurdistan Region.

Additionally, in recent days, some electricity users raised concerns about inconsistencies in their bills. On social media, citizens shared screenshots showing different charges for similar electricity usage. In certain cases, two bills for the same month or the same electricity consumption showed varying amounts, prompting questions about billing accuracy.

Responding to these concerns, the Ministry of Electricity clarified: “Electricity rates remain legally approved and published in the official Kurdistan Gazette. Electricity bills are calculated on a monthly basis and have not increased.”

Therefore, the ministry emphasized that paying electricity bills online provides a modern, transparent, and convenient method for subscribers. Online payment helps citizens avoid visiting electricity offices while ensuring accurate and timely bill processing.

Officials explained that this month’s higher bills result from increased electricity usage. The recent cold weather and sudden temperature fluctuations caused many households and businesses to use more electricity than usual, which directly affected their monthly bills.

The Ministry of Electricity reassured subscribers that dedicated teams at electricity sales offices are available to address any billing issues. Citizens experiencing problems or questions regarding their electricity bills can contact these offices for immediate support.

By monitoring electricity usage carefully and using online services, subscribers can manage their energy consumption effectively and avoid surprises in future bills. The Ministry of Electricity continues to stress transparency, accurate billing, and efficient service to all electricity subscribers.
