The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry has officially proposed hosting a major regional economic forum in Erbil. The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry made the proposal during the Qatar International Conference, and participating parties gave initial approval. The forum is titled “Corporate Social Responsibility of the Private Sector and Sustainable Development.”

This move reflects growing regional confidence in Erbil as a stable and attractive destination for major economic events. It also highlights the Kurdistan Region’s improving investment climate.

Following the participation of the Erbil delegation in the fourth Qatar conference, Gulf business leaders showed strong interest in the Kurdistan Region. They expressed confidence in the local market and readiness to relocate major regional forums to Erbil. As a result, the idea of holding the next round of the regional economic forum in Erbil gained momentum.

During the visit, the Erbil delegation held several high-level meetings with business leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Syria. These meetings focused on key economic and development issues. Discussions emphasized mechanisms to promote sustainable development across the region. They also highlighted the need to integrate business growth with environmental protection.

In addition, talks covered the role of the private sector in supporting humanitarian projects and improving public services. Participants agreed that responsible business practices are essential for long-term economic stability.

Gailan Haji Saeed, Head of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, confirmed the proposal in an official statement. He said that they submitted a formal request to host the fifth round of the Corporate Social Responsibility Conference in Erbil. Additionally, he described the step as important for strengthening the economic position of the Kurdistan Region. He also noted that the proposal reflects regional investors’ confidence in Erbil’s stability and its ability to host major international forums.

The Corporate Social Responsibility of the Private Sector Conference is one of the region’s most important platforms. Each year, it brings together business leaders, investors, and decision-makers from Arab and regional countries. The event focuses on sustainable development, ethical business practices, and regional cooperation.

If Erbil is selected as the host city, it would create new opportunities for foreign investment. It would also enhance Erbil’s role as a regional economic hub. Hosting a major regional economic forum in Erbil would send a strong message about the Kurdistan Region’s openness to cooperation, growth, and sustainable development.
