Kurdistan’s Largest Tourism Project, Worth $150 Million, to Be Built in Akre

A major tourism project, valued at $150 million, is set to be developed in Akre district, marking the largest such project in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. The project will be executed by a private company and will be carried out in three phases, covering an area of 446 dunams in the center of Akre.

Amin Salim, the Director of Tourism in Akre, emphasized that the completion of this project will have a transformative effect on the region’s tourism sector. The development will consist of five main components: a hotel and motel area, nearly 100 restaurants, stalls, commercial units, event ballrooms, and a cable car system.

Upon completion, the project will be able to accommodate up to 2,500 tourists per night, significantly boosting tourism activity and infrastructure in the region.
