Dana Gas rejected claims that the Iraqi prime minister ordered a stoppage at the Khor Mor gas field. The company clarified the situation after several media outlets reported that Baghdad wanted operations paused. Therefore, the company moved fast to correct the story and protect its reputation.

In a clear statement, Dana Gas denied the report from Al-Monitor. The company said the information was wrong. It stressed that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani actually supported a quick restart. Moreover, the company noted that he wanted gas production to resume without delay. This position directly contradicted the media claims.

Dana Gas praised the prime minister for his swift response. The company thanked his office for strong support on security matters. Senior federal officials visited the Khor Mor field soon after the attack. Their visit strengthened coordination and boosted confidence. These steps helped Dana Gas stabilize the situation and prepare for a safe restart.

Dana Gas and Crescent Petroleum operate Pearl Petroleum. This consortium develops and manages the Khor Mor gas field. The field sits in the Chamchamal district of Sulaimani province. It remains one of the Kurdistan Region’s most important energy sites. Its gas supports power stations and fuels economic growth across the region.

However, the field came under attack on Wednesday. A liquid storage tank was hit and caught fire. The company confirmed that no workers were injured. Crews shut down production temporarily to put out the fire and assess damage. Their quick actions protected staff and equipment. The steps also prepared the site for the next phase of operations.

Iraqi Prime Minister Sudani condemned the attack during a phone call with Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. Both agreed to form a joint investigative committee. The committee includes Iraq’s interior minister, the intelligence chief, and senior Kurdish officials. The global coalition will also support the investigation. Officials expect results within days.

The denial from Dana Gas clears up confusion. It shows that both Baghdad and Erbil support a fast restart at the facility. The company continues to coordinate with federal and regional authorities. As a result, the Khor Mor field moves closer to full recovery.
