The KRG electricity restoration effort reached a major milestone as the Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed that power production will climb to 4,500 megawatts. The Minister of Electricity Kamal Mohammed Salih said the region now moves toward full stability after the drone strike on the Khor Mor gas field. The government highlighted rapid repairs, stronger coordination with Baghdad, and a clear plan for new air defenses.

Salih explained that power plants now work at nearly 2,000 megawatts. However, he said crews continue to increase capacity every hour. He added that output will rise to between 4,000 and 4,500 megawatts. This increase brings the region back to pre-attack levels. Therefore, the KRG electricity restoration campaign shows strong momentum and stronger resilience.

The recovery depends on the return of gas from the damaged field. Salih said the field now produces 404 million cubic feet of gas. He said this number equals 76 percent of the level before the strike. He expects full normalization within hours. This rise in pressure supports stations that shut down after the attack. As a result, the grid continues to stabilize through steady steps.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Electricity confirmed that gas flows resumed early Sunday at 2:00 a.m. This restart allowed stations to reconnect. The Ministry said the entire system will stabilize within 24 hours. The KRG electricity restorationprocess therefore advances quickly.

Salih also praised strong cooperation with Baghdad. The Iraqi Ministry of Oil sent the first convoy of domestic gas to the Kurdistan Region. Cities received this shipment on Saturday. Salih said attackers tried to trigger a shortage of LPG as well. Yet coordination between Erbil and Baghdad blocked that attempt.

The Minister stressed that the attack will not pass without consequences. A high-level investigation team now works under Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul-Amir al-Shammari with KRG Interior Minister Reber Ahmed. Salih said justice will come soon. Additionally, he said Khor Mor needs an anti-drone air defense system. He noted that Dana Gas supports this request. Baghdad also agreed to work seriously on this plan.

Officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources also promised that gas levels and electricity supply will return to normal today. They said workers need safety guarantees. They urged Baghdad to enforce security across vital energy sites.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani thanked citizens for their patience. He said militias cannot threaten the region’s progress. He also warned that Iraq cannot attract investors while illegal groups attack national infrastructure.

The KRG electricity restoration now enters its final stage. As power plants return to full capacity and pressure rises inside the pipelines, cities across the Kurdistan Region prepare to return to normal life. By tonight, the lights across the region will reflect determination, unity, and a firm commitment to security.
