French companies in Kurdistan are showing growing interest in expanding their activities across the region’s fast-developing markets. The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced this after holding an important meeting with a delegation from the French–Kurdish Companies Group.

During the discussion, the delegation stressed that French companies in Kurdistan want to increase their presence and explore new sectors. They noted that the Kurdistan Region offers strong economic potential. They also said the region’s stability continues to attract international investors.

Moreover, the French–Kurdish group called for organizing a joint business forum. They said such a forum would help connect French companies in Kurdistan with local traders. It would also create opportunities for cooperation in trade, industry, and investment. This step, they added, could open new doors for long-term partnerships.

The head of the Erbil Chamber welcomed the proposal. He confirmed the Chamber’s readiness to support French companies in Kurdistan. He also explained that the Chamber will provide coordination, guidance, and assistance to help both sides form successful business relationships. Additionally, he stressed that strong cooperation benefits the region’s economy.

France has long maintained deep ties with the Kurdistan Region. These ties include diplomatic, cultural, and economic relations. Over the years, French companies in Kurdistan have invested in key sectors such as energy, telecommunications, education, and infrastructure. Their involvement has helped support development and modernize essential services.

In recent years, France has also increased political and security cooperation with Baghdad and Erbil. French officials have repeatedly supported economic reforms in the region. They have encouraged private-sector growth and praised efforts to create a more open and diverse economy.

Today, the Kurdistan Regional Government continues to promote foreign investment. It is working to diversify the economy beyond oil. Because of these policies, interest from French companies in Kurdistan is rising. Their engagement is seen as an important opportunity to expand international trade, strengthen the business environment, and boost local markets.
