Electricity repairs in Ranya City have officially started. The Raperin Independent Administration has launched a campaign to strengthen the local power network.

The campaign includes repairing transformers and feeders in the district. Moreover, workers aim to prepare the system for both winter and rainy seasons. Officials stressed that these steps will ensure a more stable power supply for residents.

In addition, the reforms connect directly to the upcoming lighting project. Authorities confirmed that the project will begin delivering 24-hour power in February 2026. Therefore, residents will soon enjoy uninterrupted electricity in Ranya City.

The General Directorate of Electricity Distribution in Ranya also issued a public notice. In the statement, officials warned citizens that daily power cuts would occur in some neighborhoods. However, they advised residents to rely on private generators when necessary.

Electricity repairs in Ranya City also highlight a broader regional effort. According to the Ministry of Electricity, nearly four million people in the Kurdistan Region already benefit from 24-hour power. Furthermore, this includes all households in Halabja Province. Officials emphasized that the long-term goal remains full service across the region.

The shortage of electricity has troubled Iraq and the Kurdistan Region for 35 years. Yet, a turning point came in November 2024 with the introduction of the Rubak Project. At that time, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani presented the project as both an electricity and environmental solution.

Meanwhile, the lighting project has already delivered positive environmental results. More than 3,200 neighborhood generators have been shut down. As a result, harmful gas emissions into the atmosphere have decreased. Consequently, residents now enjoy cleaner air and improved urban living conditions.

Electricity repairs in Ranya City therefore mark significant progress toward long-term energy security. Local officials confirmed that these projects will guarantee more reliable power. Finally, with consistent reforms, residents of Ranya and the wider Kurdistan Region will gain cleaner energy and 24-hour service in the near future.
