The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) under the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced a series of regulatory decisions aimed at improving the monitoring of gas stations and ensuring the quality of petroleum products across the region. These measures are intended to align with international standards and reinforce the regulatory framework within the energy sector.

Central to these decisions is the imposition of defined penalties for gas stations that violate fuel quality regulations. This action is intended to protect the integrity of petroleum products—specifically gasoline, diesel, and kerosene—and to promote environmental and consumer safety.

In addition, the ministry has outlined the standardization of oil product quality in line with global benchmarks. This standardization will serve as the basis for inspection and quality assurance procedures moving forward.

To ensure effective enforcement, the MNR has directed the Directorates of Oil and Minerals across all provinces and autonomous administrations to establish specialized committees. These bodies will be tasked with monitoring implementation, conducting inspections, and reporting violations.

These regulatory steps reflect the KRG’s commitment to maintaining high standards within the fuel supply chain, ensuring transparency, and safeguarding the interests of both consumers and the environment.
