US-KRG Energy Cooperation Set to Deepen Through Strategic Panel and New Agreements

Today, May 22, 2025, a high-level energy panel is scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. (Washington, D.C. time), corresponding to 3:30 p.m. (Erbil time). The event will bring together the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and United States Secretary of Energy Christopher Rafferette to engage in discussions focused on the future of energy collaboration.

The agenda includes two specialized sessions on energy development, sectoral integration, and investment opportunities in the Kurdistan Region. In advance of the panel, the KRG signed key agreements with American firms HKN Energy and WesternZagros—highlighting a growing partnership and shared goals in energy sector advancement.

Steve Lutz, Vice President of the Amka Chamber of Commerce, praised the diplomatic and strategic momentum, noting the importance of such initiatives in building long-term economic and energy cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.
