Public sector salaries in the Kurdistan Region will begin distribution on Tuesday after Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance approved April payments. This step follows financial coordination between Erbil and Baghdad and ensures employees will receive their wages within days.

A source from the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Finance and Economy confirmed that Baghdad will transfer the funds on Monday. Once the money arrives in Erbil, financial teams will immediately start technical and administrative preparations. Therefore, salary distribution will begin the following day without further delay.

Earlier, the Kurdistan Regional Government transferred more than 50 billion Iraqi dinars in April non-oil revenues to the Central Bank of Iraq. After this transfer, Iraqi Finance Minister Taif Sami approved the release of salary funds for regional employees. This approval allowed the process to move forward.

Officials said the funds will enter the Kurdistan Ministry of Finance account. Then, ministry staff will complete all required procedures for distribution. Additionally, the ministry has already prepared a comprehensive payment schedule to streamline the process.

Authorities expect to complete salary payments within three days. In this way, they aim to deliver salaries quickly and efficiently. Moreover, they continue to coordinate with federal authorities to prevent further delays.

Payments will continue through both cash and electronic systems. Employees not registered in the MyAccount program will receive cash payments. In contrast, registered employees will receive salaries directly through bank accounts and digital platforms.

Meanwhile, the MyAccount system expands as part of broader financial reforms in the Kurdistan Region. The government uses it to modernize payments, improve transparency, and reduce reliance on cash transactions. However, full implementation remains ongoing.

Finally, officials noted that salary delays linked to federal transfers remain a recurring issue. Nevertheless, the latest approval brings temporary relief to thousands of employees and pensioners awaiting their April wages.
