Authorities in the Kurdistan Region have started registering thousands of people with special needs in the MyAccount banking system. The program aims to improve financial access and organize monthly salary payments through bank cards.

The Erbil Social Protection Network Directorate urged all eligible individuals with special needs to visit designated offices within 15 days. They must complete registration and receive their MyAccount cards.

Arian Ahmed, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), said the card issuance process is already underway across the region. He confirmed that authorities have completed procedures for 5,000 beneficiaries so far.

Officials are now processing around 30,000 additional cases. However, about 25,000 individuals have not yet submitted the required documents. The ministry asked them to visit social protection offices in their cities as soon as possible.

The ministry also outlined special procedures for people with severe intellectual disabilities or cerebral palsy. These individuals may not complete biometric steps on their own. In such cases, authorities issue the MyAccount card under a parent’s name. If both parents are absent, a sibling may receive the card.

Children under 18 with severe disabilities must also submit full documentation. Required papers include a civil ID, national card, information card, biometric data for the guardian if needed, and a recent photo. Officials also require the presence of the person with special needs during registration.

According to official figures, 70,766 people with special needs currently receive financial support in the Kurdistan Region. Among them, 38,000 have not started the application process. Another 13,121 cases remain under review or system correction.

Beneficiaries receive a monthly allowance of 150,000 Iraqi dinars. Authorities say the MyAccount system will modernize payments and reduce delays. It will also ensure faster and more transparent delivery of social assistance through digital banking services across the region.
