The Kurdistan Region delayed sending the April salary list to Baghdad because technical audit work is still ongoing. Officials had planned to complete and submit the list on time, but they postponed it by one day to finish verification procedures properly.
Government departments have spent the past week sending payroll data to the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Finance and Economy. The ministry carefully reviews all submitted information to prevent errors in the payroll system. After completing this process, officials will forward the final list to Iraq’s federal Ministry of Finance.
The ministry staff is expected to finish the April salary list by the end of Tuesday’s working hours. However, the audit of the pensioners’ records caused a delay. Because of this, the technical team will complete the remaining checks and send the list to Baghdad on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Region continues collecting non-oil revenues. Officials say they still need around ten days to complete the final report for April. This report will include verified income data and full financial details from government departments.
The Kurdistan Regional Government is also negotiating with Baghdad over monthly financial deductions. Officials aim to reduce the 120 billion dinar deduction due to internal revenues falling below expectations this month. As a result, both sides continue discussions to balance financial obligations and ensure salaries are paid on time without further disruptions.
Authorities stress that completing accurate audits remains a priority. They believe careful verification will help avoid future delays and improve coordination between Erbil and Baghdad in upcoming salary cycles.
