The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced ongoing work on the 40-meter road project in Soran, which will feature the tallest bridge in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. On May 28, 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially launched the foundation of several major projects in Soran Autonomous Administration, including the 40-meter road, a key infrastructure development.

The project consists of a two-lane road extending five kilometers in length, and it will include a 250-meter-long bridge that rises 23 meters in height. With a total cost of 50.5 billion dinars, the bridge itself is valued at 28 billion dinars. The road and bridge are expected to significantly enhance the appearance of the area while also improving connectivity by linking the central road of Soran to Mergasur town, thereby easing traffic flow.

Soran, which was officially declared an independent administration by the KRG on September 14, 2021, encompasses six districts and is now benefiting from these strategic infrastructure investments.
