The Indian Ambassador to Iraq, Somin Pakchi, has emphasized the growing importance of trade ties between India and the Kurdistan Region, advocating for further collaboration between entrepreneurs and businesses from both regions. During a recent meeting with officials from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Ambassador Pakchi highlighted the necessity of establishing a joint trade platform to foster bilateral investments and expand mutual trade relations.

In his address, Pakchi reiterated India’s commitment to facilitating business exchanges, noting that such platforms would play a pivotal role in enhancing economic cooperation and offering comprehensive support for both sides. He underscored that this initiative is crucial for increasing the flow of goods and investments, while contributing to the overall growth of trade relations between the two regions.

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance commercial links, a trade delegation from India, led by Ambassador Pakchi, visited the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the KRG on Tuesday. This visit came ahead of the opening of an Indian trade center in Erbil, set to launch today.

Trade between India, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region is currently thriving, with key imports from India including textiles, tea, coffee, and rice. These goods continue to play a significant role in fostering trade ties and reinforcing economic connections between the regions.
