In a press briefing on April 28, 2025, the Director of Electricity Distribution in Slemani, Anwar Hama Saeed, announced the expansion of the city’s ongoing electrification project. According to the director, two additional neighborhoods are scheduled to receive full lighting services by the end of the current week, as part of a broader plan to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the province.
This initiative, characterized as a critical step toward energy equity, is designed to provide 24-hour electricity access to residents throughout Slemani. The project is being implemented in phases, with a long-term goal of extending comprehensive coverage to all areas of the city.
Hama Saeed also noted that households consuming under 1,000 kilowatts of electricity monthly will incur costs comparable to those currently paid for both generator services and national grid electricity. This pricing structure aims to ensure affordability and encourage efficient energy usage among citizens.
