The use of artificial intelligence in the Kurdistan Region has grown rapidly over the past year. AI tools now play a growing role in daily business, trade, and employment. This rapid expansion has sparked debate about economic benefits and future risks.

Additionally, experts say artificial intelligence is advancing at an unprecedented pace. New AI systems appear almost daily. These tools are more powerful and more accessible than before. As a result, the number of AI users in Kurdistan continues to rise sharply.

Young people lead this shift. Many students and freelancers now rely on artificial intelligence to manage workloads and find new income opportunities. The technology allows them to complete tasks faster and handle multiple projects at once.

Ahmed Shwan, a 22-year-old university student, is one example. He uses AI to work with three different companies at the same time. He says AI helps him organize tasks, analyze data, and save time. Without it, this workload would be impossible.

Moreover, Shwan believes artificial intelligence itself is neutral. He says its impact depends on how people use it. “If AI is used correctly, it can solve many problems,” he explained. However, he warned against allowing technology to replace human judgment. “Artificial intelligence should be a tool, not a decision-maker,” he said.

Furthermore, AI adoption has spread across many sectors in Kurdistan. Trade companies now rely on artificial intelligence for data analysis, market forecasts, and product classification. These systems speed up business operations and reduce costs. At the same time, they increase dependence on automated systems.

Despite these economic benefits, experts warn of serious risks. Dr. Hemin Fatih, an artificial intelligence specialist, says security and privacy concerns are growing. He warns that AI systems can expose sensitive data and allow unauthorized access to private information. According to him, weak controls could lead to major violations of personal and commercial privacy.

Dr. Fatih also warned about future developments. He said new generations of artificial intelligence may soon reach human-level capabilities. Even more concerning, he said future systems may learn and develop on their own. This ability could reduce human control over technology.

Such predictions raise ethical and safety questions. Policymakers and businesses now face a difficult challenge. They must balance economic growth with regulation and security. Without clear rules, the risks could grow alongside the benefits.

As artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in Kurdistan’s economy and education system, the debate will intensify. For now, AI continues to advance every day, reshaping work, opportunity, and concern across the region.
